The list includes consultancies that have an office in Gothenburg and publicly describe work on Android Automotive or on automotive software. Facts about the firms come from what they published themselves: their own websites, and job ads they posted on their own careers site or on Platsbanken, the Swedish Public Employment Service's job board. Facts about owners and mergers come mainly from the owners' and buyers' own pages and press releases. Each fact links to its source.

  • Tier 1. The firm says on its website that it works on Android Automotive (or AAOS), or names Android Automotive in a job ad from 2025 or 2026 for a role in Gothenburg. Job ads for other cities do not count, and neither do texts that only explain the technology.
  • Tier 2. The firm describes automotive software work in Gothenburg, such as infotainment or vehicle systems testing, but nothing we found meets the tier 1 rule.

Several of them describe infotainment or Android in vehicles, and two name Android Automotive in other contexts: Scionova in a blog post that explains the technology, and Sigma Embedded Engineering in a job ad for Krakow.

Name changes and mergers

Older lists and articles may use names that no longer apply. This is what we could confirm.

  • Semcon and Knightec. Semcon is part of Knightec Group. In 2024 Semcon and Knightec, both owned by Ratos, merged to form Knightec Group, and semcon.com now redirects to knightecgroup.com. Knightec Group has a Gothenburg office at Lindholmsallén 2 (knightecgroup.com, Semcon (opens in a new tab)). Ratos announced the merger of Knightec and Semcon on . The legal merger was expected in autumn 2024 and the organisational merger in the first quarter of 2025 (Ratos press release, PDF (opens in a new tab)).
  • Mecel, Delphi and Aptiv. Mecel AB was a Swedish subsidiary of Delphi Automotive Systems (Delphi's SEC filing, 2014 (opens in a new tab)). Delphi Automotive became Aptiv PLC on , when it spun off its powertrain business as Delphi Technologies (Aptiv press release, PDF (opens in a new tab)).
  • Cygni. Cygni is part of Accenture. Accenture agreed to acquire the Stockholm-based software development firm on and completed the deal on , adding about 190 developers to Accenture Cloud First.   • Luxoft. Luxoft is part of DXC Technology. DXC announced the agreement on and completed the acquisition on . Luxoft kept its brand as “A DXC Technology Company” and today calls itself DXC Luxoft (DXC press release (opens in a new tab)).
  • GlobalLogic. GlobalLogic is a Hitachi Group company. Hitachi signed the agreement on and completed the acquisition on through its US subsidiary Hitachi Global Digital Holdings. GlobalLogic's site calls it “a Hitachi Group Company” (Hitachi press release, PDF (opens in a new tab)).
  • Sigma Embedded Engineering and Sigma Technology. They are separate companies in the Sigma Group, which Danir AB owns. Sigma Embedded Engineering AB (org. no. 559015-0685, per the GLEIF register) is a subsidiary of Sigma Industry West, and Sigma Technology is a separate business area of the group (sigma.se, Contact (opens in a new tab)).

How do you choose an Android Automotive consultancy?

Choose an Android Automotive consultancy by what it has delivered on the platform and by who will do the work. Ask what the firm has built on Android Automotive that reached production, and at what level of the system: apps, framework or platform-level parts such as the HAL. Ask whether you will meet the engineers who will work on the assignment, who owns the code and documentation afterwards, and whether the firm writes down what is out of scope before the work starts.

If you need a large team at short notice, a larger firm usually fits better. If you need a few senior engineers inside your own team, a smaller firm can fit.
