The service
What we build on Android Automotive
We build in-car apps and media on Android Automotive (AAOS), above the vehicle hardware layer, and wire them into the systems behind them.
That is where our published case sits: the Volvo Trucks radio and media player was built above the vehicle hardware layer, on Android Automotive.
Many of us come from years of automotive and embedded work, so hardware and regulated constraints are familiar ground. Android Automotive is part of our application development, which is the largest share of what we do.
Before we start, we agree in writing what we build, on which platforms and against which systems, and we say plainly what is out of scope. You own the code, and the next team can read it.

An in-cab radio and media player, in production across the fleet
In 2024 Vynatix rebuilt the in-cab radio and media player for Volvo Trucks on Android Automotive, and shipped it to production across the fleet.
The boundary. Built above the vehicle hardware layer, on Android Automotive. We agreed the scope before the first line of code.
That is what we can publish. The rest of our work with Volvo Trucks and Volvo Cars is under non-disclosure.

Who does the work
A small team, on purpose.
Vynatix AB is a software consultancy in Gothenburg, Sweden, founded in 2023 and part of Ultra Group. Our senior engineers work as part of client organisations on Android Automotive, AI engineering and cloud platforms, with Volvo Trucks and Volvo Cars among our clients. The people you meet are the people doing the work.
How it goes
How an assignment works
An assignment starts with a conversation, usually in person in Gothenburg, and a scope agreed in writing before the first line of code. From there, our engineers work inside your team.
We meet first, usually in Gothenburg
The first conversation is usually in person, face to face. After that, most of the work happens in writing.
Scope in writing, before any code
Before the first line of code, we agree in writing what is in scope and say plainly what is not.
Senior engineers inside your team
We work embedded in your team rather than at arm's length, with no account layer in between, for as long as the assignment needs us.
Hours reported every week
We report them honestly and bill for the hours worked. No black box and no surprise invoice.
A written record afterwards
Every project leaves a record an engineer can read. We own the outcome, and you own the code.
Non-disclosure is normal
Beyond what we have published, our work with Volvo Trucks and Volvo Cars is under non-disclosure. Working under an NDA is nothing unusual for us.
Volvo Cars ·
A build pipeline cut from 47 minutes to 6
Build time matters to any team that commits often, automotive teams included. For Volvo Cars in 2025, Vynatix took a build pipeline from 47 minutes to 6 (87% shorter), on every commit for the whole team, with the same tests and the same coverage. We were scoped to the pipeline, not the build targets, and agreed that boundary up front.
Questions and answers
Questions about Android Automotive work
What is Android Automotive (AAOS), and how is it different from Android Auto?
Android Automotive OS (AAOS) is a version of Android that runs natively on the car's own infotainment system, so the apps live in the vehicle itself and no phone is needed. Android Auto is different: it runs on a connected phone and projects the phone's apps onto the car's screen. Building for Android Automotive means building for the vehicle, its screens and the systems behind them, rather than for a phone.
Has Vynatix shipped Android Automotive software to production?
Yes. In 2024 Vynatix rebuilt the in-cab radio and media player for Volvo Trucks on Android Automotive and shipped it to production across the fleet. It was built above the vehicle hardware layer, and the scope was agreed before the first line of code.
Do you work on site in Gothenburg?
Vynatix is based in Gothenburg, and the first conversation with a new client is usually in person here, face to face. After that our senior engineers work embedded in your team rather than at arm's length, and most of the work happens in writing, so there is a record you can read afterwards.
Can you work under an NDA with a vehicle maker?
Yes. Non-disclosure is normal in our work: beyond the cases published on this site, our work with Volvo Trucks and Volvo Cars is under non-disclosure.
